Another great addition to the “Rocky Mountain Matchmaker” series, Tamra Baumann’s “Matched for Love” had me reading late into the night. We all know “boy gets girl” in romance books, but poor Deek really had me worried there for a second. I needed to keep reading to find out how he was going to pull this off!Deek was a wonderfully nerdy “geek hero,” and so sweet – he was a joy to read. And Lori was fun, and had all the sass and humor that Baumann’s heroines are known for.
My favorite part of this book, though, might have been Deek’s and Lori’s respective children, who added their own level of cuteness to the story.
This is a fun series, and I can’t wait to see what Baumann has coming up next!

I’ve been looking forward to Lori’s story, having followed this series from the start. Lori is a military widow, raising her daughter, Emily, with a strong support system of family and friends. She’s a matchmaker by trade, but has no immediate interest in finding her own match for she’s been burned and isn’t willing to put her trust in another man… ever.
Deek is a self made millionaire, a single parent to his son Asher since the boy’s biological mother is off on an archaeological dig. Annie is more interested in relics than she is in her son, or the father of her son except maybe for the money he holds. Deek wants Annie to come home, to the place he had built for them, to be with their son as a true family. He is single-minded in this quest. From his own childhood experiences he wants his son raised with his mother and father together. It’s a dream that’s about to turn into a nightmare.
Lori and Deek share an awkward attraction to each other, awkward only in that their kids are friends, in the same grade and neither was really looking for someone. But the attraction is there whether they act on it or not. I don’t want to give away spoilers, so I’ll phrase this carefully. I never, ever saw Lori as a doormat or Deek as some absent minded genius. I saw two people who were basically good, kind and caring people. Both have been hurt by those they cared about, both parents and loved ones. Neither planned on finding love with someone unexpected. Deek strongly believed that somehow he could make Annie love him – we all know it never works that way. Yet this is a man who will have to learn that lesson the hard way.
I enjoyed their romance very much. And I’m not afraid to say I detested Annie, completely. Sometimes love comes when we least expect it. Sometimes we have to rearrange our thoughts on what makes up a true family. In the end, family is a group of people who love and care about each other… no matter the DNA involved.
I would definitely recommend Matched For Love and the entire series to any Romance reader. You’ll find an interesting plot, some angst, some issues and characters to care about. I’m hoping there is more to come for there are secondary characters I want to know more about.

This is technically the third book in the Matchmaker Series, but this one stands completely alone and you do not have to read the first two in order for it to make sense or be enjoyable. This book does have on-screen sex (but nothing kinky) and minor cursing, but no f-bombs.
Although I found myself highly annoyed with Deek more times than I can even begin to count, I still really enjoyed this book, which speaks to Ms. Baumann's incredible ability to tell a story. I enjoyed the interactions between Lori and Deek that showed their friendship, and how they helped each other navigate through the perils of single parenthood, each playing to their strong suits. While Lori was the kind of mom that scrambles to get things done and doesn't always have it together (which I loved), she was fun and more spontaneous. On the other hand was Deek who was the organized Super Dad who home-cooked every meal, and over-regulated every little thing where his son was concerned. Deek was a genius who came across as borderline Aspergers at times, which, if it were true, would explain his quirks and frustrating obsession with reuniting with his son's “mother” (word used in the loosest sense of the word) and their whole ridiculously unhealthy relationship. It would also explain his incredible rigidness/inflexibility with his son. I admit that I wanted to smack him more than once (Rachel absolutely nailed it when she said “For a smart guy, he's being an idiot.”), but I was very happy with how the book ended.
While this wasn't my favorite Tamra Baumann book, I enjoyed the story for what it was, and I loved the happily ever after. I also thought that Rachel was an interesting character and her story was very intriguing, so I very much look forward to seeing how her story plays out.

It was a delightful book. I love it when a book comes together and there’s a great ending when all appears lost.
Annie wasn't much of a mother, and if Deek married her it would have been the biggest mistake of his life. Not good for anybody. He should have just told her to go play in the dirt, and not gave her a penny. She actually abandoned Asher.
